If you want to treat yourself and your family to the luxury of having your own outdoor hot tub, then your new whirlpool should meet several essential conditions to ensure you can enjoy your very own spa for many years to come. For example, a robust supporting construction, which prevents moisture and pests from getting in, as well as weatherproof and UV-resistant panelling are a must if you want the entire construction to last a long time. You should also take a closer look at how energy-efficient the spa tub is as heat loss can be quite high when the tub and piping are insufficiently insulated, especially when used outdoors. Villeroy & Boch hot tubs fulfil these and many other criteria and, therefore, stand for supreme long-term bathing pleasure.
When buying an outdoor hot tub, one of the first questions that comes up concerns noise, especially in regard to the neighbouring properties. The circulation pumps, heating and filter system in all Villeroy & Boch hot tubs are very quiet thanks to innovative technologies. A closed ABS floor also delivers a noticeable reduction in vibrations and noise while you indulge in a soothing massage. The subtle bubbling, accompanied by harmonious sounds from the integrated stereo system, has a calming effect and is barely audible to your neighbours.
Designed to be free-standing, Villeroy & Boch’s weatherproof and UV-resistant hot tubs can be installed outside in a range of places. It’s important to have a suitable power connection nearby or to let a professional electrician do the wiring up to your very own favourite spot. If you would rather have your hot tub closer to the house and want to enjoy a good view while soaking in your tub, then the patio is the perfect spot for your very own feel-good spa. Or how about placing your whirlpool outside in the garden, totally romantic, in nature surrounded by plants? If you also fit it with effective roofing such as a pavilion, then not only are your hairstyle and towels protected from rain while you enjoy your soak, but it also gives it an overall inviting look. You do not have to think about drainage when choosing the spot as it isn’t necessary. The pool has an outlet to empty the water.
No matter where you want to place your hot tub outside, you will always need a level foundation for the entire construction. If the whirlpool is to go in the garden, then you may have to prepare the ground to make it level. If you choose your patio as the perfect spot for your hot tub, then you will need to be aware that even small tubs can be really heavy when they are completely full of water. One cubic metre of water weighs one tonne. If your patio is not at ground level but maybe has a basement, then you will need to consult a specialist who can advise you whether the static requirements are fulfilled.
The more often you use your hot tub and the more people regularly use it, the more dirt accumulates. Residue from body lotions, deodorants, perfume or soap come off your skin and bathing suit and can impair the water quality. Regularly adding suitable chemical treatments can restore the high quality. However, in the long-term, dirt particles and dissolved fats will expose the filter system to more pollution. This in turn will have a negative effect on its energy efficiency. It is, therefore, recommended to replace the water completely every 1-4 months, depending on how intensively it is used.
The innovative Villeroy & Boch hot tubs allow you to preset temperature ranges (high and low) to your preferred levels of warmth to ensure that the water in your outdoor pool always has a pleasant temperature. The higher range is recommended for normal use whereas the lower level takes effect when you don’t use your pool for a long time. Highly sensitive sensors regularly measure the water temperature. If it is too low, the electric heating takes over automatically. This ensures that the spa is always kept at a constant temperature. Highly effective full-foam insulation combined with an energy-saving cover and optimised piping also makes all Villeroy & Boch outdoor hot tubs very energy-efficient and in turn minimise heating costs.
As a general rule, Villeroy & Boch outdoor hot tubs are delivered with all the selected extra features as a complete package. To put the finishing touches to it all, you might want to add – matching your taste and preferences – a few supplementary components. You could get steps to make it easier to get into your spa or place a bench, a towel holder and decorative planters nearby. You could also give your hot tub a roof. We have put together a few care and cleaning tips for your hot tub so you can enjoy your Villeroy & Boch product for many years to come.
Start by cleaning the hot tub. Clean the cover of the tub regularly, using a damp cloth to prevent any dirt from adhering. Treat the cover with a vinyl cleaner once or twice a year. The high-quality external panelling on your Villeroy & Boch hot tub can be cleaned easily using a liquid domestic cleaning product. To tackle heavy soiling, you can use a pressure washer, but make sure you observe the specified minimum distance to avoid damaging the surface. Finally, the inner shell can be cleaned easily using a standard all-purpose cleaner. Have you found any scratches? No problem, some fine-grained sandpaper and polish will soon make them disappear.
Changing the water
When you use your hot tub, soap and detergent residue from your skin or bathing suit along with other substances used for maintaining the water chemistry in the hot tub accumulates in the water and makes it more difficult to preserve the water quality. Depending on how often the hot tub is used, the water will need to be replaced every 1-4 months or when the water chemical levels become difficult to manage. Remove all JetPaks when changing the water. Clean the tub and JetPak areas with a hot tub cleaner. Clean the other hot tub areas, including the JetPaks, with a hot tub cleaner as required.
Optimal relaxation - in clean water
In addition to the hot tub itself, you also need to make sure the water stays clean. This is important not only for complete relaxation, but also for hygiene and health reasons. We recommend changing the water at least three or even five times a year, and cleaning the pipes at the same time. The very first time you use your hot tub with fresh water, we recommend carrying out a shock chlorination to kill off bacteria and germs. Then check the alkalinity of the water. These values should be between 80 and 120 for use, with the ideal reading being precisely 100. After the first use of your hot tub, you should remove the filter every four to six weeks and clean it using appropriate tablets as required. Carry out a simple filter clean once a week and check the water quality two or three times a week. To treat the water, we recommend the tested and high-quality Aquafiness product.
